At this point, I know I am a direct descendant of Hannah, even though my last name is spelled slightly differently than hers. Apparently a town clerk mispelled the name when transferring data from one book to another. Thus, two 'branches' of the family were created, with slightly different surnames.
My full name is actually Jonathan Dustin, shortened for casual use to Jon (Hannah actually has a son named Jonathan, but I believe I am actually named after a closer ancestor). Hannah Duston is my great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandmother. (In case you were wondering, that was 13 greats...)
My wife Michelle found a book published by the Duston/Dustin Association describing Hannah's story. I have included it here, as the book was published in 1940 and is probably out of print.
Here is a selection of pictures of the Hannah Duston statue just outside of Concord New Hampshire. We visited the island in early May, and took some pictures. There are also a few pictures of the Museum of New Hampshire (in Concord). I hope you enjoy the pictures!
