Rapid growth in the use of Web 2.0 tools such as social networks and other social media applications is quickly changing the communication expectations of both individuals and businesses. Consumers today expect to be a part of the conversation and are becoming less tolerant of traditional advertising. Web 2.0 tools present opportunities for businesses to meet specific marketing goals in a new environment. This presentation will highlight the successes and failures in using Web 2.0 in a pilot marketing project conducted by USM students. The potential value and application of tools such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs, mobile applications, discussion forums, etc will be discussed. In addition, Web 2.0 will be considered in terms of its application in strengthening relationship marketing activities. ______________________________________________ Professor Williams teaches sport management courses within the Business Administration degree.
